Old-Fashioned Custard Pie
Classic Creamy Vanilla Custard Tart
Ingredients:
1 unbaked pie crust (store-bought or homemade)
4 large eggs
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 1/2 cups milk
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg (optional for garnish)
Directions:
Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
Place the unbaked pie crust into a pie dish and set aside.
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together eggs, sugar, and salt until smooth and combined.
Gradually add milk and vanilla extract into the egg mixture, stirring continuously.
Pour the custard mixture into the pie crust.
If desired, sprinkle the top with a pinch of ground nutmeg for added flavor and garnish.
Place the pie in the preheated oven and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a knife inserted near the center comes out clean.
Allow the pie to cool on a wire rack. Serve chilled or at room temperature.
