Sad News From Richard Gere

Richard Gere’s father, Homer, passed away at the age of 100 in Downstate New York on March 1, 2023. Homer, a community activist and volunteer in North Syracuse, was a significant influence on Richard’s life.

Richard’s wife, Alejandra, confirmed Homer’s passing on Instagram, sharing details of his life and career as a successful insurance agent and volunteer for North Area Meals on Wheels.

Richard, who often spoke of his father as his “hero,” celebrated Homer’s 100th birthday at a restaurant in May 2022.

Despite Richard’s recent health scare in Mexico, where he was diagnosed with pneumonia, he was released after a night of monitoring in the hospital.

Richard Gere has not publicly commented on his father’s death.
