Beloved Entertainment Journalist Sam Rubin Remembered

We are deeply saddened to share the news of the passing of Sam Rubin, the beloved entertainment journalist who captured the hearts of audiences for decades. Sam, aged 64, suffered a heart attack at his home and was transported to UCLA West Hills, where he tragically passed away.

Sam was an icon in the local news industry and the entertainment world, best known as a fixture on Los Angeles morning television. For years, he graced our screens with his infectious laugh, charm, and caring personality. His dedication and passion for his work were truly unparalleled.

Starting his career at KTLA in 1991, Sam became a household name. He conducted regular Hollywood news segments on KTLA’s “Morning News” program from 7-9 a.m. His charisma and expertise made him a trusted source for all things entertainment.

Beyond his work in Hollywood, Sam’s talent took him across the globe. He appeared on BBC’s TV and radio segments and Channel 9 in Australia, sharing his insights and interviewing A-list celebrities like Zendaya, Mariah Carey, Sting, Usher, and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. His interviews were memorable, providing us with unique glimpses into the lives of our favorite stars.

Despite his success, Sam remained down-to-earth and genuine. He cherished his role as a loving husband and father above all else. His family was his pride and joy, and our hearts go out to his wife, Leslie, and their four children during this difficult time.

Sam’s contributions to the entertainment industry earned him the accolades and recognition he deserved. As one of the founding members of the Broadcast Film Critics’ Association, he played a vital role in shaping the industry’s discourse. Additionally, he hosted his own show, “Hollywood Uncensored with Sam Rubin,” for an impressive 120 episodes.

Throughout his career, Sam received numerous awards in acknowledgment of his outstanding contributions. He was honored with the National Hispanic Media Coalition’s Impact Award for his integrity in broadcast journalism in 2013. He also received a Golden Mic award, a lifetime achievement award from the Southern California Broadcasters Association, and was named the best entertainment reporter by the Los Angeles Press Club.

Sam Rubin will be deeply missed by both his colleagues and the countless individuals he touched through his work. His warm presence and infectious smile will forever be remembered. Rest in peace, Sam, and thank you for enriching our lives with your passion and dedication.
