Here’s Why You Should Never Check Your Phone First Thing in the Morning

Starting your day by checking your phone might feel like a harmless habit, but it can actually set a negative tone for the rest of your day. When you reach for your device as soon as you wake up, you’re exposing yourself to a flood of information — emails, social media notifications, and news updates — all of which can be overwhelming. Another reason to resist checking your phone is its effect on your sleep cycle. Phones emit blue light, which interferes with the production of melatonin, the hormone that regulates sleep. By giving yourself time to ease into the day before engaging with your phone, you set yourself up for a calmer, more productive morning.
