On Sunday afternoon, little Gracelyn Vick vanished from Saucier. Her family claims that she left the house to play in the yard at midday, but she never returned.
Her relatives called the police after hours went by with no sign of her. For around six hours, the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office in Mississippi conducted an urgent search. To help find Gracelynn, local law enforcement agencies, Gulf Coast Search and Rescue, helicopters, drones, and about 40 volunteers joined the search.
A swing set and areas used for keeping cattle were among the parts of the family’s property that deputies blocked off. Long into the night, crime scene investigators worked to record the scene and collect evidence. According to WLOX, Gracelyn’s body was removed from the property at around 8:00 p.m.
Harrison County Sheriff Matt Haley responded to one of the several internet claims about the inquiry on Monday. A family member claims that the body of 6-year-old Gracelynn Vick was found close to her Saucier home.
“It’s too early to tell if foul play is involved in this case, and no one has been arrested yet,” Haley stated. “This investigation is still ongoing.” According to The Clarion-Ledger, an autopsy is scheduled for Monday at the state crime lab in Biloxi in order to help identify the cause of Gracelyn’s death. Social media has been flooded with condolences for Gracelynn Vick’s bereaved family since her untimely passing.
