A cat heaven

God meets him at the gate and says, “You have been a good cat all of these years.” With a warm smile, He adds, “Anything you desire is yours—all you have to do is ask.” The cat, reflecting on his past, replies, “Well, I lived all my life with a poor family on a farm and had to sleep on hardwood floors.” Before the cat can say another word, God nods knowingly and says, “Say no more.” In an instant, the cat’s humble request is granted.

A few days later, six mice arrive at the gates of heaven, and God greets them with the same generous offer. The mice, still trembling from their earthly struggles, explain, “All our lives we’ve had to run. Cats, dogs, and even women with brooms have chased us.” After a moment of thought, they add, “If we could only have a pair of roller skates, we wouldn’t have to run anymore.” God, amused by their request, replies, “Say no more.” Suddenly, each mouse is fitted with a beautiful pair of tiny roller skates, ready to glide effortlessly through paradise.

About a week later, God decides to check in on the cat to see how he’s adjusting to heaven. He finds the cat curled up, sound asleep on a plush new pillow. Gently rousing him, God asks, “How are you doing? Are you happy here?” The cat, blinking sleepily, yawns and stretches before answering.

With a contented sigh, the cat says, “Oh, I’ve never been happier in my life…” A mischievous grin crosses his face as he adds, “Those Meals on Wheels you’ve been sending over are the best!” God pauses, realizing the clever twist—the mice on roller skates have unwittingly become the cat’s heavenly delivery service.

The story ends with a playful irony, as the cat enjoys his well-earned reward while the mice, now gliding on skates, continue their eternal sprint—this time, straight into the jaws of their old nemesis. It’s a lighthearted reminder that even in heaven, some things never change.
