The earlier shopping hour and $10 credit will be added to the perks currently available to Costco Executive Members. These customers already receive a 2% cash back reward on qualified purchases and discounts on Costco services.
Now more than ever, retailers must fight for the customer’s dollar. In a downturn economy, people want the biggest bang for their buck and will spend extra time to shop competitively. Costco understands this and wants to make the shopping experience better. The company announced Costco Executive Members will have new benefits beginning at the end of June. USA Today confirmed that Costco emailed executive members announcing the latest perks. Beginning June 30, the club will open exclusively to the highest members at 9 a.m. Executive members will also earn a $10 monthly credit for orders of $150 placed through the company’s “Same-Day” service or Instacart.
While the news of extended store hours sounded like a great idea to customers, Costco employees don’t love the new Executive Member perks. Many took to a Reddit thread to air their frustration.
“Corporate announcing this with 3 weeks notice, while in the middle of a hiring freeze, AND severely cutting hours? Costco is not the same company it once was,” someone wrote. “Non executive members are just going to bully themselves in and we will be told to do more with less, as we have been.”
