The Ultimate Guide to Keeping Strawberries Fresh for Days

Strawberries are sweet, juicy, and one of the most popular fruits during spring and summer. But their delicate nature means they can spoil quickly—sometimes within just a day or two. Fortunately, with a few simple techniques, you can extend their freshness and enjoy them longer. In this guide, you’ll learn how to properly store strawberries, from the moment you bring them home until the last berry is eaten.

Ingredients:
While this isn’t a recipe in the traditional sense, you’ll need a few basic items to keep strawberries fresh:
Fresh strawberries (unwashed)

White vinegar
Water
Paper towels or clean dish towels
Airtight container or produce storage container with ventilation
Colander or large bowl

Preparation:
Inspect your strawberries. Remove any mushy, moldy, or overly soft berries to prevent them from spoiling the rest.
Make a vinegar bath: Mix 1 part white vinegar to 3 parts water in a bowl.
Soak the strawberries for about 2–3 minutes. This kills mold spores and bacteria without affecting flavor.
Gently rinse the berri.
