Have you ever seen a bumper sticker on the back of someone’s car that says something like “I used to be cool”? We have – in the car line at school. This bumper sticker speaks deeply to us as parents.
Even if you were the coolest person on the planet once upon a time, chances are, your children won’t think you’re cool. Even if you make an effort to keep up with the latest trends and stay relevant, chances are, your children still won’t think you’re cool. Even if you’re Mark Wahlberg, chances are, your children still won’t think you’re cool.
DeGeneres brought up the topic of a school dance that Wahlberg attended with his daughter. There were two very notable things that happened during that dance. First, his daughter refused to dance with him. While she was okay with hanging out with him and talking to him at the dance, she absolutely did not want to dance with him. She was afraid he would embarrass her. She did not in any way think he was cool or that dancing with him would be cool.
Two years ago, Wahlberg went on “The Ellen Show” to talk about a movie he was working on called “Spencer Confidential,” but as often happened on Ellen DeGeneres’s show, the conversation turned to family life.
