Donald Trump Suggests a New Name for…

Former President Donald Trump has proposed renaming Veterans Day to “Victory Day for World War I.” Posting on Truth Social, he urged Americans to “start celebrating our victories again.”

Highlighting U.S. Role in the World Wars
Trump argued that the United States won both World Wars but fails to honor those achievements because of poor leadership. He also wants to rename Victory in Europe Day (May 8) as “Victory in World War II Day,” claiming the U.S. contributed more than any other nation to secure victory.

Critics Warn of Global Backlash
However, critics warn that Trump’s proposal could spark international backlash, especially from countries like Russia, which suffered massive losses during the conflicts.

Originally called Armistice Day, Veterans Day was created to mark the end of World War I. In the 1950s, the U.S. expanded the holiday to honor all American veterans. Today, it stands as a solemn day of remembrance, not just a celebration of victory.
