A wave of shock and fear has swept across Tennessee as Governor Bill Lee orders the National Guard to assist in mass deportation operations statewide.
Reports began flooding social media early this morning showing military vehicles and uniformed troops moving through several urban and rural areas. Eyewitnesses described families being escorted from homes, with buses prepared to transport them to holding centers pending federal immigration processing.
This marks an unprecedented escalation in local enforcement of immigration policy, with Tennessee becoming the first state to use the National Guard so openly in deportation raids.
The Governor’s office issued a brief statement, saying: “We are upholding the rule of law and protecting Tennessee citizens. The Guard is assisting federal efforts to remove individuals who are in the state unlawfully.”
