Early Morning Attacks Target Public Officials
The violence began around 2 a.m. on Saturday. State Senator John Hoffman and his wife faced a brutal assault at their home. Both were shot multiple times but survived after emergency surgery. The severity and targeting of elected officials alarmed authorities nationwide.
Less than two hours later, police arrived for a routine welfare check at Representative Hortman’s Brooklyn Park home. There, officers confronted a man impersonating a police officer — a chilling detail that heightened public safety concerns. As they approached, the suspect opened fire and fled after a brief gunfight. No law enforcement personnel were injured.
