Dick Cheney, a towering figure in American politics and former vice president under George W. Bush, has passed away. His family shared heartfelt details about his final moments, marking the end of an era in U.S. politics.

Surrounded by Family in His Final Hours
Cheney died on November 3, 2025, after battling complications from pneumonia and heart and vascular disease. According to his family, he was surrounded by his loved ones: “His beloved wife of 61 years, Lynne, his daughters, Liz and Mary, and other family members were with him as he passed.”

A Lifetime of Health Battles
Cheney’s health struggles spanned decades. He suffered at least five heart attacks since 1978, the first occurring at just 37. In 2012, he underwent a heart transplant after patiently waiting on the transplant list for over 20 months. Doctors had previously implanted a pacemaker and a left ventricular assist device (LVAD) to support his failing heart.

Despite these challenges, Cheney remained active in politics and public life. His resilience became a defining trait, earning admiration and respect across the nation.
