Jenna Bush Hager recently opened up about her family’s delightful vacation in Italy, sharing amusing stories about her youngest son, Hal. The trip, which included visits to iconic landmarks such as the Vatican, was filled with memorable moments that showcased Hal’s unique and funny habits. As Jenna returned to her role on the NBC morning show, she recounted the joys and challenges of traveling with young children abroad, giving fans a heartwarming glimpse into their family life.
Traveling across time zones can be tough, especially for children. Jenna revealed that her 6-year-old son Hal experienced classic jet lag symptoms during their stay in Rome. “We went to the Vatican, and Hal was able to hang there… He would kind of doze off,” she shared. This sleepy behavior was met with understanding from her guest host, Willie Geist, who noted, “Jet lag is no joke for anyone. But when you’re a young child, it’s, like, times 10.”
Despite the exhaustion, Hal’s enthusiasm for the Italian culture shone through. Jenna proudly mentioned how Hal picked up some Italian phrases during their trip. “He also spoke so well. He’d be like, ‘Grazie mille!’” she said with a smile. After returning home, Hal continued to impress the family by greeting them with “Grazie mille! Buongiorno!” Jenna joked, “Maybe we just move to Italy and make Hal Hager Italian.”
This blend of jet lagged naps and budding language skills made Hal’s behavior during the trip both funny and endearing, highlighting the joys and quirks of family travel.
