I just found this thing on my bed. It’s kind of freaking me out. What is it?
Imagine walking into your bedroom, ready to relax, and seeing strange, reddish-brown objects on your bed. You pick them up: small, capsule-shaped, shiny, and unfamiliar. You immediately become worried. Are they insect eggs? Strange seeds? Medications? Or something more serious?
1. Softgels (dietary supplements or medications).
Their shape and color are similar to regular softgels, such as those made with fish oil, vitamin E, or krill oil. They dissolve easily and fit discreetly in the litter box. If you or a loved one uses dietary supplements, check if a compatible supplement is available.
2. Seeds.
Less likely, some seeds, such as pomegranate or date seeds, may have a smooth, dark appearance. However, they typically have a more fibrous or opaque texture, as opposed to the shiny, jelly-like surface seen here.
3. Insect slime or feces?
This is a common fear: people think it’s insects. Fortunately, these objects don’t look like insect eggs, larvae, or feces. Most insect eggs are white or translucent and irregularly shaped. In this case, the objects are too uniform and shiny to be organic insect material.
