April discovered she was pregnant with Jamie just one day before her 14th birthday – and the news sent shockwaves through their families. April had not told her parents about their sexual relationship because she felt “too embarrassed.”According to April and Nathan, they took no precautions whilst having sex because after trying contraceptives once, Nathan didn’t like it.
Nathan’s parents, Julie and Ron, a retired trucker, were angry with their son at first.
”I had a real go at him and told him he had been stupid. But we can’t undo what has happened and will now accept Jamie into our family. There’s no way we’ll turn our backs on him,” Ron told The Sun at the time.
